Cheers is a fantastic option for a flavorful breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Roast Beef Club was amazing!!!! Bread was super fresh and perfect! I keep thinking I'll order something else, but keep ordering this one.
My new favorite! -

I have too say I'm a little prejudiced against liquor stores with a deli, but this place proves that assumption wrong in every way. I was referred here by my mother in law & what a great find! The menu is very extensive... if you can't find a sandwich here you'll like, you're just not a sandwich person.
What makes their sandwiches so awesome is they have the skill & put in the effort to slice their sandwich meat razor thin, which brings out the flavor more & makes a sandwich easier to chew... like a hot knife thru warm butter. Every bite you take is just the bite you take... nothing else comes out where you have to shove it back in for the next bite. Even with the meat sliced so thin, they don't skimp out on the meat... the sandwiches are quite meaty.
I tried the New Yorker (roast beef, pastrami & corned beef) the first time in & what an awesome sandwich, but my favorite sandwich meat is, always has been & always will be pastrami, & oh what a pastrami sandwich they have. They offer it on the traditional Rye bread, but I still prefer the French roll. I prefer my pastrami made a little more Italian style... oil/vinegar instead of mustard/mayo with some pepperoncini's. I'm sure they'll make it that way if asked, but theirs is pretty damn good as is, so I haven't asked yet. As hard it'll be to not order the pastrami, I really want to try their Philly Cheesesteak... not too many good Cheesesteaks in San Diego.
My wife loves their Reuben, but especially loved their chicken salad on a croissant. She says it tastes oniony & herby. My son's a pastrami fan like me, but we went here 3x's in a week & he wanted to try something else & got the turkey & provolone on a French roll & now he loves that sandwich just as much. I'm not a fan of deli made chicken/turkey sandwiches (seems to easy to make at home), but I snuck a bite of his when he wasn't looking & next thing you know, half his sandwich was gone... never had a turkey sandwich so good. I still won't order it over the pastrami, but now my son has to guard his sandwich when we eat here.
Very reasonable prices too... more like the prices of 5 years ago before everything skyrocketed in price. I've spent more for a couple cheapo burgers, fries & a coke at McD's than here... & the food here is fresh & real!
The only minor criticism I have is the way they wrap it. Comes in a paper tray sealed in a plastic bag. No big deal if eating there & can remove the sandwich promptly, but it gets a little soggy if taking it to go. I prefer it wrapped in sandwich paper. -

Came here craving a good sandwich after a hike up Cowles. For $9.99 I got the Turkey, bacon, avocado club. It was pretty good in size and was overall a unexciting.. but more or less an average sandwich. The bacon was definitely the microwaveable Oscar Meyer kind. Maybe I should've chosen something other than a French roll as the bread? Or maybe a little oil and vinegar would help the situation. It was a good sandwich.. but sits low on my list of San Diego favorites. In fact it had me thinking.. I could buy all these ingredients and make a better sandwich at home.
Parking is great.. big parking lot. A couple out door seats for you and your furry friend to enjoy. Friendly staff and quick service! -

Stopped here for a sandwich after Cowles, and ordered the Combo club sandwich. On the menu it warns that it is a big sandwich, however it's just about the same size as any other sandwich I've had and was not as filling as I'd hoped.
There is a ton of selection here, I mean the menu is insanely long, however the ingredients are of average to below average quality and we're definitely disappointing considering the sandwich is $10. Also the recommended bread choice is a French roll, however I found the bread to be disappointing as well. It tasted of rather low quality, was not at all dense, and compromised mostly of air(and consequently was not as filling as I hoped).
The lower quality ingredients combined with the rather salty cashier left me without a desire to return. -

Been coming here since high school. One of the very best sandwich spots in SD. I always have picky & complicated orders & they always get it right :) It's located inside a cool little liquor store with just about every type of alcohol you can imagine. Definitely try it out! You will not be disappointed.
